Mint Julep


2½ oz Overproof Bourbon
½ oz Simple Syrup
Crapload of Mint

What To D0

In a chilled julep cup muddle about 8-10 mint leaves with the syrup. Add the bourbon and top with pebble or crushed ice. Garnish with as much mint as you can possibly afford to. Serve.

A Few Words

It’s Derby Day! So… let’s drink Juleps! I feel there are 2 key aspects in making a good mint julep. 1.) Use a quality overproof bourbon. It needs to be able to stand up to the crushed ice and water as it melts. 2.) Use FRESH mint. The mint is what makes this drink. It should be hitting your sense of taste AND your sense of smell, so a proper garnish of fresh mint on the top is necessary in getting that great aroma as you sip. Have fun! Cheers!
