Quite the Pickle

1 oz Blanco Tequila
½ oz Mezcal
¾ oz Lemon Juice
½ oz Kümmel
½ oz Agave Syrup (1:1 Water and Agave)
6 Pieces of Cucumber
Pinch of Celery Seeds

What To Do

Muddle cucumber, celery seeds, and syrup in a mixing tin. Add the rest of the ingredients and shake with ice. Double strain into a chilled glass over crushed ice. Garnish with a cucumber ribbon.

A Few Words

Kümmel is such an interesting spirit. It’s Dutch in origin and is made by infusing booze with many herbs and spices but the main flavors are caraway and cumin. It tends to be quite savory, but it’s a great liqueur to mix with as it adds some unexpected flavor notes. When I first tried it, the flavors reminded me of what you find in some pickle brines, so that was my inspiration. Savory. Very refreshing. Easy going down. Cheers!
